[One would think, at this point, Thancred would be accustomed to finding himself, rather suddenly, in quite another shockingly different locale than he'd been previously. Nothing could have prepared him for the stark contrast between the frigid snows of Garlemald and the scorching sands of Cruel Summer, though. Spending a few months in the biting climes of the far north, one develops a thicker skin, but also a tendency toward warm coats. Sweltering was the first word that came to mind as the world returned to him.

He blinked silver eyes into the raging sun overhead, raising a gloved hand to shield them from the harsh rays as he moved to a sitting position in an attempt to get his bearings.

Quite the frying pan.

[The weight in his lap caught his attention, though, and he looked down, ash-blond brows raising at the sight.]

Ah, a gift! Please tell me you hold water. [A deft turn of his wrist at the cap confirmed his hopeful suspicion.] Thank the gods.

[Movement to the side caught his eye and he turns his head sharply in that direction, deftly getting his feet under him and reaching for a weapon not strapped to his back. Damn.

Well, alternative methods, then. He cracked a warm smile. The heavy overcoat he wore really put into stark relief how little he belonged there.
]

Ho, there! Are you friend or mirage?

[Sweating through the slog of walking, water or umbrella be damned, was horrendous. His only hope was that they were heading toward rather than away from civilization. To spite the heat, he hadn't lost his coat just yet as he had no idea where they were going, but also knowing a desert could be Twelvesdamned cold once the night fell and if they were about that long, he was going to be prepared.]

I have been in worse situations.

[But not many, and he usually at least had an idea which way was the correct one. Here, though, he could only keep them going to straight and hope for the best, hoping as well his new companion had a similar idea.

Then they crested a dune and what was an anticipatory stride, one looking forward to a new vantage point to get their bearings, when the sun glinting on the collection there was unable to be ignored. Swords, daggers, shields, firearms and more littered the small rise.
]

How odd...no signs of a struggle. It's as though these were placed here... [He stooped, picking up a hefty broadsword and a shield nearby.] Cheeky, really, taking our weapons only to leave us with castoffs. I wonder what's lurking...

[A low rumble nearby might be the answer.]

I trust you know how to use one of these? If not, do us a favor and stay behind me.
